HeartScreen America Partners with Take It To Heart™ to Offer Preventive Heart Screenings
Harrisburg, PA – 05 Mar 2007: HeartScreen America, Inc. of Andover, Massachusetts announces it is partnering with Take It To Heart™ to offer preventive heart screenings. HeartScreen America’s Healthy Heart Screening Program will take place at Susquehanna Township High School gymnasium on Saturday, March 24, 2007 from 7:30am until 4:30pm and on Sunday, March 25, 2007 from 7:30am to 2:00pm. Pre-registration is required and will be available between March 5–20 by logging onto www.HeartScreenAmerica.com or calling 866.722.8008.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) claims over 5,000 young American lives each year. Take It To Heart, funded and facilitated by local parents of children who have died from sudden cardiac arrest, is dedicated to helping prevent these tragedies. The first 100 children to register will receive their screening for free, courtesy of Take It To Heart. According to Rhonda Foster, founder and project director, “It is appalling that in this day and age of medical technology, thousands of seemingly healthy children can just die suddenly and unexpectedly every year from a heart problem that could most likely be detected with a simple, inexpensive, painless, non-invasive test, the electrocardiogram”.
The screening program, which includes an electrocardiogram, is open to all citizens of South Central Pennsylvania. Screenings range from $39.95 for children (age 6+) to $44.95 for adults. Alternatively, these services can cost $500-$800 at outpatient facilities and are not often available to young people without symptoms. Unfortunately, every year, apparently healthy children die suddenly, with no warning symptoms beforehand.
HeartScreen America’s Healthy Heart Screening Program provides an affordable and convenient opportunity for children and adults to receive an electrocardiogram (ECG). Each participant also receives a family and personal heart health questionnaire, blood pressure reading and BMI calculation. All ECGs are reviewed by a board-certified cardiologist. “HeartScreen America is pleased to partner with Take It To Heart in providing low-cost ECGs to people who otherwise might not have this opportunity to have their heart screened” commented Bert R. Vining, President and COO, HeartScreen America.
