HeartScreen America, Inc. Partners with Louis J. Acompora
Memorial Foundation to Offer Preventive Heart Screenings

NORTHPORT, NY, APR 3, 2007:   HeartScreen America, Inc. of Andover, Massachusetts announces it is partnering with the Louis J. Acompora Memorial Foundation to offer preventive heart screenings. HeartScreen America's Healthy Heart Screening Program will take place at The Dance Studio, Northport High School, on Saturday, April 14, 2007 from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm and on Sunday, April 15, 2007 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Pre-registration is required and will be available logging onto www.HeartScreenAmerica.com or calling 866.722.8008.

The Louis J. Acompora Foundation was founded in 2000 after Louis' tragic death from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). SCA claims over 5,000 young American lives each year. In the years following this tragedy, the foundation worked closely with legislators to bring into focus the need for Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) in schools. In May of 2002, "Louis' Law" went into effect, requiring AEDs in all New York public schools. The Louis J. Acompora foundation is also involved in helping to provide communities with preventive measures, such as the heart screening program offered by HeartScreen America.

The screening program, which includes an electrocardiogram, is open to all students in Northport and East Northport, NY. Screenings, which normally cost just under $50, are being offered for $10 thanks to co-sponsorship by The Louis J. Acompora Memorial Foundation and Oxford Health/United Health Care. Screenings are open to students from age 6-18. Alternatively, these services can cost $500-$800 at outpatient facilities and are often not available to young people without symptoms.

HeartScreen America's Healthy Heart Screening Program provides an affordable and convenient opportunity for children and adults to receive an electrocardiogram (ECG). Each participant also receives a family and personal heart health questionnaire, blood pressure reading and BMI calculation. All ECGs are reviewed by a board-certified cardiologist. "HeartScreen America is pleased to partner with The Louis J. Acompora Memorial Foundation in providing low-cost ECGs to people who otherwise might not have this opportunity to have their heart screened" commented Bert R. Vining, President and COO, HeartScreen America.
