My Story

Imagine being 15 years old and collapsing, almost unconscious, at the finish line in the biggest track and field race of your young life. This was my experience.

In high school I was a three-season athlete who was diagnosed with a life-threatening heart condition called LongQT Syndrome. This is one of the conditions responsible for causing sudden, unexpected death in athletes and young people.

The first test that indicated I had a serious problem with my heart was an electrocardiogram, often called an ECGAn electrocardiogram (ECG) is a test that records the electrical activity of the heart. ECG is used to measure the rate and regularity of heartbeats as well as the size and position of the chambers, the presence of any damage to the heart, and the effects of drugs or devices used to regulate the heart (such as a pacemaker). or EKG.

When I was 17, I had a defibrillator implanted in my chest, and I am now protected from Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

My Mission

Today, I am focused on heart health education and awareness. We need to make choices that keep out hearts safe. We need to be aware of the risk of Sudden Cardiac Arrest and how to prevent it from happening. We need Automated External Defibrillators to be accessible in public places and CPR training to be a priority.

Proactive measures, such as heart screening, must also be taken to prevent Sudden Cardian Arrest.
